Verizon just gave us an ETA of 4-5 days for a “fix”. So, I don’t think it’s going to be EOD… Everyone should call Verizon again and complain so it escalates further, hopefully.
That’s not good news at all! I might need to look at other services to accept online orders the meantime. Shopify is responding to me via DM on Twitter/X but haven’t heard anything on this thread from support.
Which Verizon number did you call to report this? I started digging last night and discovered that this Shopify IP was placed on DHS-AIS-IP Department of Homeland Security Automated Indicator Sharing List, which is picked up by Infoblox, a company Verizon uses for cyber security threat indicators or similar purpose. I reached out to Infoblox and they will not alter or remove any IP from the list that DHS provides. The blocking of this IP appears to be indiscriminate and everyone involved needs to escalate this to Shopify’s highest level, i.e executive team so they can deal directly with DHS to resolve this. It’s Verizon today, but it may be AT&T and T-Mobile tomorrow.
Exactly my findings as well. Follow the hashtag #verizify on Twitter/X. Been working to create noise and awareness for 3 days now.
I was looking to loop in any executives I can find. Let us know what you find!
We can start here:
Unfortunately I called so many numbers trying to get through to anybody at all, and then was shunted off from one department to another while on the call, that I have no idea what number it was… we also found the DHS/infoblox info, really frustrating. Not sure what to do! We may move our domain and hope that we fall under a different class of IP address after the move…
It would be great if Shopify had more than one IP address for third party domains to use. There are several that can be used with Shopify domains, but we are stuck with this one unless we transfer our domains to Shopify, which can still take weeks.
Yes, we are about to transfer away, in the hopes it will result in a different IP assignment.
Are you planning to move away from Shopify service for domain registration or your online store? According to Shopify documentation, the only IP address available to use with third-party registrars is 23.227.38.65. Transferring registrars wouldn’t change the IP, unfortunately.
After research, my team said it appears that Shopify assigns the “65” to sites with 3rd party domains. We are going to transfer domain from dan.com in the hopes it will result in being assigned an IP that is not flagged by DHS!
Transferring away from dan.com to Shopify. There is a chance this will result in being given a different IP that is not the ‘65’, one that is not flagged by DHS. It’s a chance, but gotta take it because what it happening right now is really bad!
Thank you!
My website was also blocked by Verizon and following the same trend that many mentioned below… Third party registrar (domain.com), no luck with Verizon, Shopify said they know about the issue and pretty much SOL right now, contacted InfoBlox who said they can’t touch it. Figures this was a big sale weekend for me… definitely lost money!
Yep we lost sales. I am not seeing accountability on the horizon which is extremely frustrating. Class action lawsuit requires tremendous investment. Damn.
We just got an email from Verizon that they supposedly fixed it on their end. Do you mind all trying? Obviously, clear cache or go into private/incognito mode.
Still blocking
Ugh. Same happened for one friend on verizon cellular but not the other friend also on verizon cellular.
Still blocking even after clearing cache unfortunately - but strangely it does work in private mode…
There are some big fashion/beauty brands this is impacting as well:
