Video production automation

As an app developer I wonder how merchants see video production automation? What would be really helpful in your case? E.g. adding product videos based on images, creatives generation, etc? Please considering constrains of the tech.

If it’s an AI app, I don’t think the technology is there yet. It’s really difficult to translate taste, style, and branding with automation but if it were possible, I think something like: upload the storyboard, upload the image assets and brief, click build, with the ability to edit afterwards would be helpful.

That’s a great question! From a merchant’s perspective, automation that quickly turns product images into short, engaging videos would be really valuable. Things like auto-generating product highlight reels, lifestyle mockups, or simple motion effects (zoom, rotate, text overlays) would save a lot of time. The key is keeping it lightweight, customizable, and fast to implement within existing workflows.

So how do think, what would be the main objective of such videos? Enriching catalog or ad creatives or anything else?

I’ve been thinking about the same issue for some time. After a lot of experimentation the current AI solutions weren’t able to provide a satisfying solution for us either. Our biggest issues with it were long waiting time, which caused out of stock products to still be promoted, low video quality, hallucinations added products that weren’t part of our store and lack of brand coherency.

That frustration was the main reason why we’ve invented Donkeyclip, it is close to a full video experience while using the existing product pictures and avoiding all of the current gen ai issues. Which enabled us to deliver a way nicer experience at http://furnigo.gr/ .

We’re still expanding it with more and more feature and would love some feedback if something like that solves the issue for you.

I completely agree that video production automation can be a game-changer for merchants. Automating product videos from images and generating creatives saves time and boosts consistency. I recently read this blog, How Virtual Sets Are Changing the Game for Video Production, also explores how technology is reshaping modern video creation.
