Hello Shopify community.
I need some advice and feedback about my online gift store. I have had a guy working on the site but I do not like the layout or design. I am adding more products but would welcome any feedback on the store. I am U.K. based with U.K. suppliers. I just don’t get excited when I look at it anymore.
@Markssxx It sounds like you’re ready for a refresh! Consider focusing on a layout that highlights your unique products and aligns with your brand’s personality. Simplify the design to make navigation easy and engaging. Make sure the site is visually appealing and showcases your products effectively. If you’re not excited about it, your customers might not be either. Seeking a fresh perspective from a designer could really help rejuvenate your store.
Thank you for your feedback. Yes I agree if I don’t like it how can I expect customers to. I also think the previous designer did not understand the importance of making the products more visible rather than pictures of people. Those can be secondary images. Thanks
@Markssxx You’re welcome! Absolutely, product visibility is crucial. The main images should highlight the products, while lifestyle images featuring people can be used as secondary visuals to add context and appeal. This ensures customers focus on what you’re selling first.
Hi @Markssxx ,
Thanks for reaching out to the community. I’m Lindsey from BON: Loyalty Rewards Referrals.
I believe I have some additional suggestions for your store that might be helpful. You don’t give us your store URL here but I have found other threads of yours and it seems like you need feedback about this store: https://click-a-gift.com/ am I right? From the perspective of a Product executive, I have a few suggestions for you about your store design.
1. First Impressions
- Visual Appeal**:** As I check here, some image on your store is quite blurry. The homepage should be visually engaging with high-quality images/banners, so please update those images.
- Clear Value Proposition**:** Make sure the unique selling points of your store are immediately visible, such as customization options, gift-wrapping services, or free shipping offers. You should choose an attractive tagline that highlights your store USP, and promote it on your website and other platforms as well.
- Branding color**:** I suggest you to choose another primary color for your store, instead of the current one. The current color is quite striking. Since you are using a lot of red tones, it can be a bit harsh on the eyes for store visitors. I suggest choosing a different branding color that is more soothing to the eyes. Search for the keyword “color palette” on the internet, you’ll find more options to choose.
- Homepage layout**:** The current layout is quite messy (maybe because you are trying to showcase too many products directly on the homepage), and it seems like the footer of your website is still under development and is haven’t finnished yet.
2. Navigation
- Menu Structure**:** The navigation menu should be intuitive. I see that you don’t put anything on the navigation menu at the top of your website, I think you should add it. The sidebar menu you are using now on your store is only user-friendly for mbile phone, but not for desktop/laptop. So please adding top navigation menu for desktop/laptop, and keep using current sidebar menu for mobile phone (in website development, we call it “responsive”).
- Search Functionality**:** You can consider adding a search bar for your website, with options to filter results by category, price, or popularity. This helps customers find what they want easier.
3. Shopping experience
When browing your website, I see that you showcase a lot of products via slideshows, directly on the homepage, but those products are non-clickable. This means if store visitors see a product there and they want to buy it, they cannot click on the product image to buy it right away, but they will have to find it, search for it in your collections, which is not a good experience for users.
You said that you are working with a developer to build and design your store. I think maybe you guys may need to re-brand and set a clear goal for your website again, or maybe you need to hire another designer for your website. You can also consider using page-builder Shopify apps for this part as well, they already have templates and well-design sections that you can use right away, so it will save you a lot of time and effort. If you find this helpful, please let me know by giving me a ‘LIKE.’
Good luck!
Lindsey
