Looking at themes for a marketplace app. Currently leaning towards symmetry but wanted to know if there were better options for a simple, clean marketplace app selling musical instruments. Most of the themes I look at are loaded with videos and solo sections but I’m really just wanting a running of different categories and the items listed below the categories, with an option to view entire category or additional filters to find what specifically you’re looking at.

Symmetry is one of our favorite themes and would be a great option. Here’s store by a friend built with it (Different use case but great result)
I would also suggest to try Dawn (The New Shopify default theme with the best functionality) & Showcase. This last one is good to present collections in the homepage.
Tip: Take your time to try them, picking the theme is a very important part and if you need any help we are here for you!
