What is the best way to bulk edit variants?

(I’ve seen this question already asked in the forums however those posts are 1-2 years old.)

For stores with 100’s/1000’s of products the csv method seems very tedious. Is there a app/new method to do this?

Yes - for bulk editing variants, the csv export/import method can be tedious - and not as intuitive as directly editing an excel or google sheet. Does that app allow you to bulk add variants? (I have multiple products that need a new variant and i’m trying to figure out the best way to do this)

Is this an app or is this within shopify itself? We have about 800 different products we need to add a new variant to. Trying to find the best way to do so without editing each and every product individually.

This post is a little old but if you’re looking for a way to edit variants in 2025 (now that Shopify is starting to release the new 2048-variant limit per products) I would recommend taking a look at our Ablestar Bulk Product Editor app.

Using the app you can either bulk edit/add variants with a spreadsheet or through the in-app interface:
