Hey, what is the best payment gateway to use for a Malta-based shop with the intention to sell online & internationally?

You’re in luck — there are plenty of third-party payment gateways to choose from in your region. If you haven’t yet reviewed our list of available payment gateways in Malta, you can do so here.

I definitely recommend considering Stripe, 2Checkout or Authorize.net. All three of these gateways are popular amongst merchants worldwide and are quite reputable. They’ll allow you to accept credit card payments from customers and they should also support international payments. However, this is something I suggest confirming with them.

Aside from choosing one of these gateways, I also encourage you to offer PayPal Express Checkout. This payment method can be offered alongside your primary gateway and provides customers with the option of paying through PayPal or with their credit card. Most merchants offer PayPal Express and, in fact, you should already have it activated; when you set up your Shopify store, Shopify creates a PayPal Express Checkout account for the email address you used when you first signed up with Shopify.

However, although PayPal is activated, I suggest that you finish setting up your PayPal account before you start selling. Doing so will ensure that you receive payouts from PayPal on time. Instructions on how to complete the PayPal account setup can be found right here.

Have you tried Viva Wallet - they do payment gateway online and physical terminals as well
