When page load 2/3 sec the white screen and then my store load full index page

Topic summary

Issue: Store displays a white screen for 2-3 seconds before the full page loads. User wants the store to load section-by-section or at least show text/fonts during the initial load instead of a blank screen.

Suggested Solutions:

  • Image optimization: Compress images and avoid too many per page
  • Reduce HTTP requests: Combine/inline CSS scripts, minimize redirects and broken links
  • Theme optimization: Choose responsive themes, disable unused features, replace slideshows with single hero images
  • App management: Remove unused Shopify apps and their residual code
  • Technical improvements: Use lazy loading, minify CSS/JS files, replace GIFs with static images, use system fonts
  • Page transition setting: Multiple users confirmed disabling page animations resolved the white screen issue

Resolution Found:

Go to Customize Theme > Theme Settings > Animation > Uncheck “Show Page Transition”. This solution successfully eliminated the 30-60 second white screen delay for affected users.

Hey @Vasu_Kanani .

Thanks for reaching out.

I appreciate the context that you have shared with us as that is very helpful! Could you share your online store URL, by any chance?

There are factors that you can control to improve your online store speed. If your online store is heavily image based, consider optimizing your images to allow your store to load quicker for your customers. You can also disable app features you don’t use, or remove the app if you don’t need it.

Looking forward to your response.

I would like to give you some suggestions regarding your question here.

The faster your site is, the more users you are likely to convert. Follow the below tips that will help you decrease the load on your web pages.

  1. Image compression is important and a necessity for faster-loading web pages. Make sure your images are of good quality and do not add too many images on a single page.
  2. Reduce the HTTP requests. For example: Combine & inline your CSS scripts
  3. Minimize broken links and redirects - Avoid unnecessary Redirects and fix broken links
  4. Using slideshow, which are high-quality images combined with transitions, take time to load when the user clicks the link to the homepage. So instead you can use a single high-quality hero image.
  5. Always choose a theme that is responsive, fast, and takes minimal time to load the page
If you choose a theme with numerous sliders, fancy animations, advanced navigation systems, etc., will affect your page speed. If your theme is loading slow, consider disabling the theme features you don’t need.
  6. Don’t add too many images on a page
Adding too many images on a page can be frustrating. It can significantly slow the load time of your website. Also, it can overwhelm visitors, which will ultimately result in a poor user experience, a high bounce rate, and a high probability of lower rankings in relative search results.
  7. Use Lazyload wherever required to reduce initial load time
  8. Remove all unwanted Shopify Apps which you are not using
You should disable app features you don’t use, or you can remove the app if you don’t need it. If you are removing an app make sure to remove code that was added as part of the app install process.
  9. Replace GIFs with static images
  10. You can run the Shopify Theme Inspector for Chrome to identify the lines of code that are slowing down pages in your online store.
  11. Removing unused app code is a best practice that avoids running code for unused features, and makes your theme code easier to read.
  12. Loading extra data your customers aren’t using can impact your store speed without adding value.
  13. Use a System font which is a font that is already installed on most computers. For example: Segoe UI, Times New Roman. If you use a font that does not yet exist on your customer’s computer, then the font has to be downloaded before your text can be displayed. This impacts the time that your store takes to load.
  14. Use minified CSS and JS files

If your website takes longer than 3 seconds to load, 40% of your traffic will be lost. Apart from speeding up your store, for getting better conversions, make sure your store products are Found on Google. When your customers search on Google, your product can be found only if your page is indexed. Note that once a URL gets indexed, customers will start finding your store through organic searches, you will start getting order conversions for virtually zero cost. I have the same issue. would you be able to link where one can find the solution in the theme setting animation section?

I had the same problem
Page Loads But a White Page appears on top underneath it by sliding down the page is loaded but the white screen takes about 30-60 seconds to go away.
I Turned Off page transitions
Goto Customize Theme -->Theme Settings–> Animation → Uncheck Show Page Transition.
This worked for me.
