Why am I getting high traffic but no sales on my new online store?

My new shop: unepetitevie.com, has pretty good traffic from Facebook and Snapchat Ads, considering I just opened the store. There have been several times people have added items to their carts but never checked out. Can I please get some tips on how to improve my store and increase my conversions? Thank you!

It’s a cliche and a very broad vague question “traffic no sales”.

Having a store isn’t magic you can have 10’s of thousands in traffic and no sales if no one wants what’s being offered or how it’s being offered.

On the traffic generation end, you just have to go through the learning curve of targeting the right audiences.

On the website and business sides,

ASAP work on developing higher self awareness for common website problems and bad business expectations especially the cliches, to avoid failures in the first place or even having to ask incredibly vague questions that get vague solutions.

Research this feedback subforum and the forum in general, then online, for every “traffic no sales” or “no sales” cliche until you start to recognize the patterns before you even open other merchants websites when they are asking for feedback in the posts being researched.

How you analyze the research plays a part too , when the post was made, what changes were made(use archive.org may help here), WHY were the problems there in the first play WHY did they need to be changed, and is the business even around anymore etc.

Most responders will ask for the website name on this and every other post about “traffic no sales” and then recommend some sort of changes like adding an announcement bar, changing colors etc, or give social validation that does not change the amount of sales.

Some of it will be helpful if the merchant has made critical mistakes in how they think a website should be setup, or have put in no effort.

Though most of it always busy work that can make a merchant feel like they are accomplishing something temporarily with “actionable items” yet it doesn’t fix the core issues in the business itself so time is spent but the store revenue doesn’t improve.

Yeah I can’t “develop higher self-awareness” when I’m inexperienced in this business…that’s kind of the whole point of why I posted asking for help. To figure out how I could develop better awareness and skills on expanding my business. Thanks for your reply though.

Hi @unepetitevie

I’m Garcia - CRO expert from PageFly - Page Builder, with a passion for helping online stores like yours reach their full potential. I’ve reviewed your store and have some suggestions that I believe could significantly improve your conversion rate and overall performance.

1. Enhance your homepage with valuable content:

Your current homepage lacks information and doesn’t effectively communicate your store’s value proposition. To improve it, consider adding these sections:

  • Hero banner: Use a captivating image or slideshow with a clear call to action and compelling text.

  • Collection list: Showcase your product categories in a visually appealing way.

  • Highlight product details: Feature your most popular or unique products with enticing descriptions and visuals.

  • Testimonials: Include positive customer feedback to build trust and credibility.
  • Benefit bar: Briefly highlight the key benefits of shopping at your store.

  • Social proof: Display social media mentions or customer reviews to demonstrate social validation.

2. Write product descriptions that inform and engage:

The current product descriptions are general and lack specific details that would help customers make informed decisions. Enhance them by adding:

  • Detailed product features: Dimensions, materials, functionalities, etc.
  • Benefits and use cases: Explain how your products can solve customer problems or improve their lives.
  • Unique selling points: Differentiate your products from competitors and showcase their special qualities.

3. Optimize your mobile store for speed and usability:

Since most online shoppers browse on mobile devices, optimizing your mobile store for speed and user experience is crucial. Here’s what you can do:

  • Check your mobile page speed: Use tools like Google PageSpeed Insights to identify areas for improvement. Aim for a score above 85 for optimal performance. The product page score now is 41 which is quite low.

  • Simplify navigation: Make sure your mobile menus are clear, concise, and easy to navigate.
  • Optimize images: Use compressed image formats and appropriate sizes to avoid slowing down loading times on mobile devices.

By implementing these suggestions, you can create a more informative, engaging, and user-friendly online store that converts visitors into customers. I hope this feedback is helpful!

May the New Year bring you new beginnings and new opportunities!

There are other improvements that could be made, but a few things that may help:

-Add customer reviews to the homepage you want to gain credibility with your customer ASAP when they are visiting your store, even if they LOVE a product they will shop for it elsewhere if they feel the brand doesn’t have enough trustworthiness. (I see they are available on the product pages already, great job!)

-Consider adding “Quick Add” buttons to your collections, it removes one step for a customer looking to make a purchase (our attention spans online are very short you want the process as fast and simple as possible)

-I see on at least one product a video is not functioning, this will deter customers from ordering (a clean, well functioning website is essential to success) (Product: https://bundleoj.com/collections/toys-for-kids/products/domino-train-toy )

-This is a personal preference but I HATE those “Someone just bought this product” pop-ups, they are heavily used in Shopify stores and I believe they do more harm than good in most cases. A pop-up review would be better if anything. (Especially if you have other pop-ups, or alot of other animated elements on the page. Also, the language selector is overlapping with these messages blocking the images)

-I would make this font bold, or add a background behind the text so it is easier to read
