Why are my slideshow images in the narrative theme not positioned correctly?

Hello guys,

The images in the slideshow of the narrative theme are not positioned well and they are zoomed in too so you can’t see the whole image, in both mobile and desktop.

What’s the issue here guys? Could anyone here have a look at it or fix this for me, please?

Hi @Ahmedo ,

Hyde here from Shopify.

The imagery on your store is obviously very important, and I understand you want it to be the best that it can be.

That’s why Shopify has provided a help guide for every one of our themes - here is the one for Narrative.

Narrative is designed specifically with visual storytelling in mind, so to take advantage of this strength it is important that you upload images that are the highest resolution: 4000 x 2200 px or larger (without exceeding the upload size limit). We also have a full list of recommendations for best results for your images.

For example:

  1. make sure that the focal point of each image is in the center. Cropping will always happen on some screens, meaning the focal point is visible, while areas around it are hidden.

  2. Images that you use for slideshows or backgrounds shouldn’t have text in them. If the text is a part of the image itself, then it might get moved around, cropped, or adjusted based on your theme. Use the theme editor to add text and links to your slideshows.

  3. For images that you use in slideshows or as backgrounds, choose simple images so that any overlying text is easy to read.

There’s plenty more in the document I linked you, but essentially you need to have the right quality, size, and type of image before you even upload it. And you need to be aware of where your image will be displayed and how it might adjust to suit the screen it is being displayed on.

I hope that helps! All the best, Hyde.

@Andrew_8 Thank you
