I am using the Impulse theme - have selected the button and enable colour swatch.
I have uploaded the png files for the different colors…yet my swatches are not working.

I have done all this already 
I have done it on another site … same theme…and it worked - not sure why on this one it doesn’t - maybe its a different page template?

I understand you are looking to fix product swatches issue, so custom can select provide colour option and image will simultaneously change.
If the respective theme support team has not provided you any solution yet, then you can also look for the below mentioned shopify app.
This app helps you in displaying different images based on selected product variants.
