Why aren't PayPal payments showing in my orders page?

i am testing my store and i can see that when someone submits his payment via paypal in the product page or the cart page without preceding to checkout, the order does not reflect in the orders page. please how can i fix this

Hi, @abdulrhman995 .

By not proceeding to checkout, do you mean that customers are paying for their orders by clicking on the PayPal dynamic checkout button on the product or cart page?

Orders paid via accelerated checkout methods should still reflect on your Orders page within the Shopify admin. Can you check your abandoned checkouts, to see if any of the orders appear there? If they do, oftentimes an error message can be seen within the order, which should explain and clarify any potential issues with the order payment attempt. You can follow the instructions below to check this on your end:

  • On your Shopify admin, go to Orders > Abandoned checkouts
  • Select your order, then scroll down to the order’s History section and click on the line items to expand more information
  • Check for an error code in regards to the payment attempt
  • If you’ve located an error code but aren’t sure of what it means, you can reach out to our live support team who can help clarify. We aren’t able to do this via the Community Forums at this stage, but you can reach out to our support team via our Help Center here. Once logged in, select a topic that best fits your query or situation. From there, you’ll be taken to a page with a list of relevant support articles, and you can scroll to the bottom of that page to select your preferred contact method with our team.

If you’re currently testing your store’s checkout, just a reminder that we have a couple of resources to help with placing a test order on your store:

hello kimi, thank you so much for reaching out.

i tried my paypal payment smart buttons in the cart page and after the payment it says thank so much for your payment. i receive the payment in my paypal balance but i do not see any orders in the orders page, and it does not even show up in abandoned checkouts.

thats a problem because i am planning on using the paypal smart buttons as the main payment method for credit cards.

Thanks for the added context, @abdulrhman995 .

Is there a specific reason you’re looking to use PayPal smart buttons?

The reason that I ask is because Shopify currently only supports the native integration of the following PayPal providers:

  • PayPal Express
  • PayPal Payflow Pro
  • Venmo

If you’re looking to accept credit card payments, you can use PayPal Express for this. Shopify’s dynamic checkout button feature allows for a branded PayPal button to also appear on your store’s product and cart pages, where necessary.

Because PayPal smart buttons aren’t supported by Shopify, our team’s scope of support is rather limited to help troubleshoot any issues you have with it. It also means that orders that are captured via the smart buttons won’t show up within the Orders page on your Shopify admin, as the admin can only show PayPal orders that are captured using the providers mentioned above. As noted by the Community on this thread, if you decide to continue using the smart buttons, you’ll still be able to track your orders on your PayPal account, just not on your Shopify admin.
