Why can't I access Shopify Balance even though I meet all requirements?

Hello. I meet all the requirements to use Shopify Balance but it still apears as if I am not eligible for Shopify Balance

Hi there, @Etienne1 !

Welcome to the Community! Definitely a great place to gather some input regarding anything about the platform!

With regards to your inquiry, I recommend you reach out to our live support team for further information as well as assistance as we do not have access to such information over social channels. Once they verify your credentials, they can open up back end information and dig deeper into this situation to see why Shopify Balance is not showing up on your end.

Moreover, I have also attached all the requirements outlined in our help document for your reference:

Please do let us know if you need any sort of clarification on the information provided.

Thank you Daniel. I did, I contacted support several time and even send emails and they say is “we are expanding of shopify balance acceptance” but i don’t understand because I mean I am in the USA and I meet all the requirements. They are not even giving me a clue of what is missing, because I uploaded ssn, us passport, us address, everything and all they say is that they are expanding. Not sure what is going on.

Thank you for the added information, @Etienne1 .

Have you expressed these questions to them after their initial response? I definitely recommend continuing your current conversation with them as they are the ones with access to backend information about your store.

We can lay out the requirements for Shopify Balance here in the Community and you can express that you meet all requirements. However, since we do not have access to account specific information, we cannot really determine what is happening specifically. I urge you to keep replying to our internal team and lay out your confusion so they can dig deeper and explain as to why you are not seeing this on your end despite meeting the requirements outlined.

Do you have two-step authentication activated on your account? This is also another requirement mentioned above. As well as having Shopify Payments completely set up. You also need to be on a paid plan and not on the trial plan any longer.

I have had the same issues, and it is quite frustrating. I have been in contact with live support multiple times and they will ask me a few questions and have me send them screenshots of obvious requirements that I meet, and then ultimately say there are internal requirements that must be met, but can’t be disclosed to me for security reasons… I have no idea what that means, but there most definitely needs to be a much more clear detailing of why someone would be eligible or not. (At least add “even if all requirements are met, not all accounts are eligible” or something to not act like it should be cut and dry if you meet all listed requirements.

Not only do I also meet all listed requirements that you have also shared above, I know it can’t be for any banking or security reasons or anything else, as I have a fully registered and filed LLC, EIN, SSN, and permanent physical US address, which I have used to quickly and easily open up an online business checking account (Novo Bank) in the mean time, as well as been approved for an American Express Business card, all within the last week. Shopify is a great platform, but advertising a great product offering like that (most specifically next day payouts) and then not having the ability to provide customers really any answers when they meet all your requirements but can’t actually take advantage of the offer is pretty bad. All I hope out of this post is to share my frustration and hope that someone can run this situation up the chain a little faster, as obviously I am not near the only one affected and/or frustrated about it.

Hi there, @revpath .

Welcome to the Community! Definitely a great place to gather some input regarding anything about the platform!

I definitely hear your frustrations about this matter. I will be sure to pass along your feedback to our internal teams about this matter but this is an issue we are not able to go deeper into the Community as we do not have access to backend information as mentioned in my previous responses.

I recommend you reply directly to your ongoing tickets to further ask for clarification but we also appreciate your understanding regarding private internal processes as mentioned as well.

When you say no longer on a trial, does this include the “first 3 months for 1 dollar”? Or only the 3-day trial? Do you have to have your site set up and have a custom domain? Or can you still be creating it and still get a Balance card?

I currently am on the “3 months for 1 dollar” stage and have yet to transfer my custom domain (it takes money and would stop my current Square website from working, so I didn’t want to do that until I am finished). But, I want to set up my Balance account so I can try it out. That said, it says I’m not eligible yet and to check back later.

@revpath @Etienne1 Did they ever get it fixed for you guys? Or were you able to get eligible? I’ve gotten the same reply about them, “expanding.” I am changing over from Square to Shopify and they have the option to get a savings account and card just like Shopify Balance, yet Square’s version worked without issue. Part of the reason I switched was because I knew I’d have a card like that, so this is just ridiculous to me.
