Why can't I see the menu while customizing my Dawn theme?

I currently have the Dawn 9.0 theme on my store and I am working on Dawn 11.0 (customizing) before publishing. I’ve only added like 3 apps to my store. At first everything worked well, but now for some reason, I am not being able to see the menu on the right side when customizing either theme. It acts like it wants to load and doesn’t. I only have the ability to edit on the left side of the theme. What happened to my right side edit options?

Hi, @ready4planb . I’m happy to help you out with this! To clarify, are you missing theme settings or are these settings just appearing on the left side of your theme editor now? If you have a screenshot showing what you see on your end, that can help as well.

We did have an issue recently where some sections of the theme editor were loading indefinitely or appearing blank. It’s possible this is what you were experiencing. That being said, this issue is resolved now so your theme editor should be working correctly. If you’re noticing that sections are appearing blank or indefinitely loading, please let us know! I also recommend clearing your cache and cookies and trying again to see if this resolves the issue.

If you’re still seeing all of your settings, but they are appearing on the left side of the theme editor now instead of on the right side like it used to, this is expected behaviour and is a part of the recent updates to the Shopify admin.

This issue started happening to me last week. Before last week, I would have options on the left and right side of the theme. And now it’s happened to my current version of the Dawn theme 9.0 which is running on my store. I’ve tried clearing cookies and cache, using different devices, incognito windows, mac and pc…Nothing has worked. You can’t edit everything about the Dawn 11.0 theme with just the left hand side. I can’t change certain colors on different sections of the theme. I had exported a copy of my theme before this happened and tried to upload that, but the problem still persists. It’s very frustrating and I reached out to Shopify chat support which was of no help! I need to be able to use the right side menu. Sometimes it attempts to pop up by doesn’t. Please advise with a working solution.

Hi, @ready4planb . Thanks for getting back to me! Are you able to share a screenshot of what this looks like on your end?

The Shopify admin went through a recent update. As a part of this update, theme settings no longer open on the right side of the theme editor. All theme settings now open on the left side, including the settings to edit sections. When you click on a specific section, the settings for that section are shown on the left like in the screenshots below. In this example I’m using the Dawn theme and clicking on my ‘Featured collection’ section to open the settings for that section.

To edit your theme colours using the Dawn theme, this is done from the Theme settings tab. The screenshot below can help you find those settings. You can also learn more about the theme settings tab here.
