Why does adding product prices on Shopify change the values?

Topic summary

Main issue: When entering product prices (e.g., 19.95 euro), the system auto-converts them to incorrect values like 199.5 or 1995.00. The behavior began today, suggesting it may be linked to a recent change or update.

Impact and workaround: This disrupts product creation and slows down pricing. The only reliable workaround reported is to first enter “19” (which becomes 19.00) and then add “0.95”.

Context: The problem specifically affects decimal pricing with euro amounts; the platform appears to be reformatting decimals unexpectedly.

Responses: One participant offered direct assistance but provided no technical explanation or confirmed fix. No official guidance or solution is present in the thread.

Status: Unresolved and ongoing; cause and permanent fix remain unclear.

Hi Shopify.

We’re facing a problem (starting just today so possibly a cause of some kind of an update) where while adding a price to our products, the Shopify system seems to intervene and it makes the whole product adding system painful.
It seems to not recognize prices that go like this: 19.95 euro, it automatically changes it to either 199.5 or 1995.00. Looks like the only way to get the pricing I need is to add it first 19 only, make the Shopify change it to 19.00, and only then I can add the 0.95 cents. It’s very time consuming, any chance you can change this?
