Why has my favicon disappeared?

Hello,

I just noticed that my Favicon has disappeared. It does not seem to be browser specific. I saw one post to add some code to the theme liquid file but that didn’t solve the problem. I also tried making sure I chose a picture with a specific title, not a default one. That didn’t make a difference either. It was there last week and now it isn’t. Can you help?

It’s interesting to know that the icon appears to be missing for you! If possible, can you share a link to your store with me, so I can check to see if the favicon is also missing for me on my devices? Sometimes, these issues can be local, so this is the first step I like to take when it comes troubleshooting these issues.

Please make sure that you have set up the favicon for your theme

In case you have set it up in the theme setting but it doesn’t show please follow my instructions

Step 1: Online Stores > Themes > More Actions > Edit code

Step 2: click on theme.liquid and find the: favicon then you can move the code for the icon outside the condition

Make sure that you will insert your icon URL to the href like the screenshot

Hi Victor,

Thanks for the suggestion. I cut the line from the if statement and pasted it exactly as it was under the endif line. It did not change anything. I’m not sure I understood the comment about the href, though. Should I get the exact URL for my favicon and replace the reference { settings.favicon | image_url: width: 32, height: 32 } that is in the line? If so, how do I find the favicon URL?

I checked out the site and the missing favicon definitely isn’t a local issue. Considering that, along with you trying the suggestion from our friend @PageFly-Victor , it may be best that you reach out to our Live Support Team for some assistance with this. They’ll be able to authenticate you, and dive into your account details and store to see what the issue may be.

My theme had an available update. Once I published it, my favicon reappeared. Thank you both for the help!

Awesome to hear that the Live Team was able to help you with your issue! Those theme updates can be sneaky and causes things like that to happen sometimes, so it’s great the team was able to lead you to a resolution!
