Why is my monthly charge suddenly $62?

So I 3 months ago i signed up for the $20 a month plan and saw marginal success with my store. I kind of forgot and now I just saw a $62 charge. I have no idea why this is so large and It makes me want to close my store and get a refund. The whole point of the store was to make me some extra money because it’s really tight right now, and now I don’t have enough for groceries. I would really appreciate some help here

Can you elaborate on what plan you choose for $20? I’m not currently seeing any offered in that price range. The best way to determine what happened is to head to Settings > Billing and expand your invoice which will show details for the charges. This will include your subscription fee, any paid apps, and any third party transaction fees or shipping labels purchased.

If you’re having trouble understanding the bill you can provide us with a screenshot as long as you blank out any and all sensitive account information and only provide the list of the charges.

Here’s the proof. i feel that the last charge is a little deceptive, not accusing shopify but just saying I didn’t know it’d be that much. I feel that the new price point is too much to keep my store running and would appreciate a refund because I live paycheck to paycheck and 60 is significant to me. thanks for your time

Thanks for the screenshot! Unfortunately, this only shows the amount charged per billing cycle. In order to see what you were charged for you need to select a bill to expand it and see a break down of the charge.

If you can please provide a screenshot of the expanded bill with a break down of the charges that will explain why you have been charged these amounts.

I don’t really understand it but all i want is a refund for the 60 dollar charge. I wasn’t expecting that and it is too much for me right now

Based off the screenshots you were charged correctly. $39 is the monthly cost of the Basic Plan, and you have one app installed which costs $20. You can see you were charged the $1 subscription fee in December along with the app, then the Basic Plan along with the app.

As such, I can’t guarantee our team will provide you a refund for the subscription. You can absolutely try though! Simply head to the Help Center and request an Advisor from the chat bot. They will take a look at your account.

That being said, the app charge is a different process. Paid apps are developed and priced by the third party developer who operates the app, Shopify simply charges on their behalf. Our Support Team can reach out to the app developer on your behalf to request a refund, but it is ultimately up to the developer and not Shopify.
