Why is my site not functional after adding code to my blog post?

Topic summary

A store owner encountered a critical site malfunction after attempting to add custom code for blog post spacing. The error originated in the theme.scss.liquid file within the Assets folder, causing CSS validation issues that scrambled the site’s design for customers.

Key Problem:

  • Invalid CSS syntax error found in theme.scss.liquid
  • Site became non-functional after code modification
  • Support agent initially unable to resolve the issue

Resolution Approach:

  • Initial suggestion to rollback using Code Editor’s version history
  • This failed because files in the Assets folder don’t save previous versions automatically
  • Discussion moved to private messages due to complexity

Outcome:

  • Issue was successfully resolved through direct assistance
  • Store owner expressed gratitude for the help received

Important Note: Changes to files in the Assets folder (including theme.scss.liquid and theme.js) don’t retain version history, making rollbacks impossible through standard methods.

Hey @nadinemcneil ,

Could you give me the link to your store and the exact page you’re seeing the error?

www.nationsproducts.com

Hey @nadinemcneil ,

Could you paste all the contents of theme.scss.liquid here?

is this what you asking for? Sorry not a coder at all.

Hey @nadinemcneil ,
Click on open code editor and then you can view the list of changes. You should be able to select an earlier version and rollback. Once you select a older version, then click “Save”

@nadinemcneil

You can try the above suggestion to rollback first, if it doesn’t work, then let’s try something else

It doesn’t have any other versions to select.

Thanks for your help. Yes. It does not work. It says there is no other version. Could we please try something else?
