Why is ShopSync App syncing without consent in Mailchimp integration?

I have integrated Shopify with Mailchimp using ShopSync to export my signups for my newsletter.

The sync to Mailchimp works fine in the email section and in the footer. But when I under contact information in the checkout flow are typing my test email ShopSync sync the email even though I have not checked the “sign me up for your newsletter” box. See the example below. It is in danish, so I have tried to translate it.

We are using a free version of ShopSync. But can any of you explain how I can change it to only sync the email when the box is checked off.
