Why isn't my Bluehost domain opening with www?

i have taken a third party domain from bluehost , my store is not opening www pls help me

It sounds like your domain might need some time to update it’s information or that there was an incorrect DNS setting in the domain’s DNS. Don’t worry, as this is definitely fixable!

The first thing is to ensure that your domain DNS is up to date within your DNS host. Specifically, you need to make sure the CNAME record and the A record are correct:

  1. Point the A record to the Shopify IP address 23.227.38.65.
  2. If necessary, change the Host name to the @ symbol.
  3. Delete any other A records on the domain if there are any present.
  4. Point the CNAME record with the name www to shops.myshopify.com.

Feel free to share a screenshot of your current DNS settings if you are unsure how to set them up.

Once that is done, it can take up to 48 hours for the DNS information to be shared with Shopify. You can follow along with the propagation of your DNS settings though using a free online tool like: DNS Lookup - Check DNS Records.

If after 48 hours the www domain is still not working that usually means there is an issue with the DNS setup or with the domain host directly.

Shay’s reply is spot on, but I’d also suggest www is not critical these days — it’s a hangup from the olden days of the web and a pain type, let alone say…

Are you saying I need to delete all other A records from my Bluehost DNS records? I used to have my domain connected to a Wordpress website, but have since transitioned to using Shopify and am having trouble verifying my domain. I’m not able to attach a screenshot as Shopify only allows me to upload a .csv or .flow file. Thanks for your help!

You can have only one A record and one www CNAME record associated with your domain. If your domain already has an A record or www CNAME record, then you need to change these records to point to Shopify.
