When I click the “Add To Cart” button, the number beside the cart icon in the header does not update, unless I refresh the page or click the icon. Is there a way to solve this?
Luna here from Shopify. Sorry to hear that your add to cart hasn’t been working as expected. We can definitely take a closer look at this together.
To gather a little bit more context, can you please let me know the following:
Is this happening on multiple devices (both mobile & desktop)?
When did this issue start?
Have you made any recent coding changes to your theme?
Have you recently downloaded any apps?
To narrow down where the issue is, I will ask that you try to customize another theme in your admin. Does the same error occur? To do so, please follow these steps:
Scroll down to ‘Theme library’ and click ‘Customize’ beside one of your themes listed here.
If you don’t currently have any other themes downloaded, please download a free theme for testing purposes. To do so, head back into the 'Online store > Themes’ section of your admin, click on 'Explore free themes’, click on any free theme, and then click ‘Add to theme library’. Once this theme has been downloaded, please follow the steps listed above. Once you are finished, feel free to delete the theme from your library.
If the issue does not persist on the fresh theme, it is possible that there is something else going on with the theme itself. Check out this Shopify Help Document for more information on where to find support for your theme.
Looking forward to hearing back from you, so that we can continue to work on this together.
Hello, Thanks for the reply. I’ll provide answers accordingly below:
Is this happening on multiple devices (both mobile & desktop)?
Yes
When did this issue start?
I’m not sure, because I have used an app called “Sticky Add to Cart Button Pro” for quite some time, there was a floating cart icon that showed the number whenever I click “Add To Cart”. I was not focusing on the cart icon in the header.
Have you made any recent coding changes to your theme?
I have removed some coding regarding other app. Added codes for Google Analytics, Tag Manager and Google Ads, and for some display issues.
Have you recently downloaded any apps?
I have downloaded some other apps regarding the add to cart function. But I have disabled them all and the problem is still happening. I have also used PageFly to create most of my pages, including product page and the “Add To Cart” button. Don’t know if this may be the issue?
I have tried adding to cart by using Boundless and Brooklyn theme. It does not have the same problem.
Please feel free to ask if there’s anymore question. I’d be happy to answer. Thank you.
Thank you very much for getting back to me with this context. It’s super helpful.
Based on what you’ve shared, I believe there is still some code remaining from “Sticky Add to Cart Button Pro” or a similar cart app that you’ve used in the past. Sometimes, the app code remains even once disabled from your account. If this is the case, the app developers will be able to remove the coding for you. It looks like we’ll need to access your account in order to pinpoint where this issue is arising from. While we’re not able to provide account-specific support via the Shopify Community at this time, we’d be happy to continue assisting you through live chat, email, or callback. Please visit our Help Center and log in to your account to create a support request. Our support team will also be able to reach out to the app developers on your behalf if needed.
I’ve just checked your pages and the cart icon issue. Basically, PageFly works well with Shopify themes. However, with some themes, especially the cart mechanism working makes conflict with PageFly, therefore there is the cart drawer not updating automatically.
We have this manual about the issue. However, you can contact our 24/7 support live chat, we will check and fix the issue for you.
Luna here! I see that you’ve gotten several replies on your post. I just want to ensure that you’ve gotten all the help you need. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
