Shiuld I wait?
Hi @Kristi6
Thanks for reaching out here, and welcome to the Shopify Community!
I understand that your domain isn’t verified, and you are wondering if you should wait.
Can you please confirm if this is a Shopify purchased domain, or a third-party domain that you have purchased externally, and are trying to connect to your Shopify store?
If you purchased the domain on Shopify, then part of the process involves reviewing your personal information to confirm that the email address and information are correct. Once the domain is purchased, you then need to verify your email address in order to complete your new domain registration.
I would suggest checking your email account for this verification email, and following the instructions that are outlined within it. If you don’t receive an email about verifying your email address, then it would be a good idea to check your email inbox spam/promotional folders, or you can resend the verification email via your Shopify admin.
If the domain is third-party, and you need to verify ownership of it then you can follow along with this page here. Feel free to share some more context on what is happening, and if possible share some screenshots of any relevant errors or warning messages, and I will do my best to help troubleshoot further.
How is the rest of the store coming along so far? Shopify provides a wealth of resources for new merchants to help you get started with your store. Here are some of the resources that could be useful to you:
What “SSL pending” means
Hi @Kristi6
Thanks for getting back - that is a good question.
Are you seeing this message next to the domain in your Shopify admin? Feel free to share the domain URL here, as well as the information requested above and we can troubleshoot this further.
For context, a SSL certificate is a digital certificate that is used to secure a website and encrypt the data that is transmitted between a user’s browser and your Shopify store. These certificates are provided for free by Shopify, for all domains that are added to your store.
When a domain has a SSL certificate, it means it can be accessed via HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure), indicating that the website is secure. It would also show the small ‘lock’ icon in the top left of the URL bar.
The “SSL pending” status on a domain suggests that the SSL certificate is in the process of being issued or installed, but it is not yet active. If you have set up your domain correctly, then the pending SSL should naturally transition to ‘provisioned’ once the domain DNS settings have fully propagated.
