Today I was working on a new shop design. Earlier I already got some weird update issues but now the home page is not even updating anymore. When I go to my store domain wich is online it shows older versions of my changes. When i enter the custimize theme I see all the changes that should also show on my domain. Does anyone know why this is happening.
I already tried to search for asnwers like deleting coockies, trying other browsers etc.
Hi @CoverArt1
This is Theodore from PageFly - Shopify Page Builder App.
For solving the problem about Home Page Not Updating, let’s try this solution:
Here are some things you can try to troubleshoot why your online store is not reflecting the changes you’ve made in the customizer:
Clear your browser cache and cookies. Changes to the theme files sometimes get cached, so clearing out old cached versions can help.
Make sure you are publishing your changes. In the Shopify customizer, you need to explicitly publish changes for them to go live. Check that you have published after making edits.
Try viewing the site in an incognito/private browsing window. This will rule out any browser caching issues.
Confirm the changes are in your theme files. SSH into your store and check that the updated theme files exist in the themes folder.
Check the theme editor. Sometimes theme changes get overridden if made via the theme editor. Double check the code there matches your customizer changes.
Consider installing a theme cache app. Apps like CacheBuster force refresh of the theme code and can override stale cached versions.
As a last resort, try re-uploading your theme folder completely. This will override any corrupted cached files.
Let me know if the issue persists after trying some of those troubleshooting tips! It’s likely a caching issue, but we can dig deeper if needed.
I’ll be so happy if my suggestion can help to solve your problem. If you have any further questions, please feel free to tell me.
Best regards,
Theodore | PageFly
Thanks for your reaction Theodore, I decided to recreate my whole shop. I tried almost all of the above and couldn’t fix it. But I remade it now so it doesn’t matter anymore. Still thanks for the help!
I am having the same problem with my home page not reflecting my saved updates. I’ve tried different devices, browsers, cleared cache and cookies, device restarts, and to no avail.
Have you found a solution yet? My website has the same issue, it won’t display 4 changes I made, when I make new changes it does display those on the website but still won’t display the 4 changes I had made earlier. I do see them in my editor though.
Idk if you found a solution, but I was having the same issue I think. I realized I had “default” selected at the top instead of the market my store was actually displaying. In my case I needed to select “United States” and now all the changes I make are reflecting in the preview.
Thanks for the reply. Yes I did find a solution and it was indeed set to default instead of the country my store should be displayed in. Took me a week to come to this solution. But thanks for your response and hopefully other people will find these answers when experiencing the same problem!
Click on the globe, set your store to your country and check if it matches with the “standard” website layout. Sometimes changes don’t get synchronized between the standard and “your country” layout.
we had the same problem and it turns out someone on the client’s team enabled “locales”. We were making customizations to the “Default” locale instead of to the “Canada” locale. There is a dropdown at the top of the “customize” tool
To anyone still having problems with this, I found a solution that might work for you. I’ve been banging my head against a wall over this for days. I just discovered that if you go into your theme editor and then click on “Featured Collection” under the “Template” section on the left hand menu, then go to the right hand menu and scroll down to the “Collection” section (just under “Description style”) and then set that to your Home page, it fixes the problem… at least it did for me. Hope this helps someone!
