When I use the SKU nr to search after some of my products some of them don’t appear. Even though I know they are in the shop. Because when I search the title of the product I can find them.
Example :
Searching after this SKU : 17466393.100, its dosent show up in the search.
Searching after this SKU : 17466393.112, it works.
Are you able to record the issue for me when you’re trying to search the SKU, so I can see exactly how you’re searching those numbers? You can use a free program like this one here. This will help me investigate the issue further for you.
Just to note, partial SKU search only works if the beginning of the SKU is being used. Otherwise, the entire SKU must be used to search. If part of the SKU is listed in the product Title or Handle, then searching that part of the SKU will pull results. Searching by SKU must use the full SKU. If some results are populating, it’s most likely because the part of the SKU that is being searched is also included in the product’s title or handle. Let me know if that is the case here!
Here you go, I have attached a recording of the screen where I use the two SKU numbers to find the products. The first one can’t find the product, so I have to use the product title to locate it.
For the second item, which yields results, is the SKU number included in the product’s title or handle for that SKU and missing for the other? I suspect this is why one works and the other does not when you search? You can also try testing this by taking the below steps;
Create a product with a SKU like test_1234
Try searching the for the product using only “1234” and no product will be shown
If you alter the product handle to include “1234” (i.e. products/test-product-1234), searching for “1234” will show this product in the results
This is because the product search is seeing that number in the product’s handle, not the SKU
