Why won't my product URL redirect to collections on Shopify?

Are there certain urls that Shopify will not redirect? I am trying to redirect /products to /collections/products but it doesn’t work. The redirect saved correctly and is listed but doesn’t appear to function. I have cleared my cache numerous times. Am I missing something?

The same thing happens with the similar redirect of /collections to /collections/products. Shopify allows me to save the redirect but it doesn’t work.

Only broken URLs should be redirected. Broken URLs might load a “page not found” placeholder message, or “404” might appear somewhere on the page or in the page title. If the URL still loads a valid webpage, then the URL redirect won’t work.>

/products is a valid URL, so you can’t redirect it to anywhere

That link also has a list of reserved paths that you can use

Thanks for the clarification on the redirect. I understand about it being a valid url. We would prefer users not being able to go to those urls but I guess we will have to just accept that they can.
