Hi everyone,
I’m using the Palo Alto theme, and I’ve noticed that the zoom functionality on product pages is very sensitive on both mobile and desktop.
On mobile, when I pinch in or out, it zooms way too much and doesn’t feel natural or responsive.
On desktop, clicking the image triggers a zoom that’s too aggressive and hard to control.
Is there a way to adjust or replace this zoom behavior with something smoother and more user-friendly? Ideally, a more touch-sensitive zoom for mobile and a more subtle or customizable zoom on desktop.
Here’s a link to one of the product pages where you can see it in action:
I saw your post regarding the zoom functionality on your product pages using the Palo Alto theme, and I totally understand the concern a zoom that feels too aggressive can really affect the user experience, especially on mobile where touch sensitivity matters a lot.
This kind of issue typically comes from the default zoom script or library built into the theme. In most cases, it can be customized or replaced with a smoother, more controlled zoom effect, both for mobile (pinch-to-zoom) and desktop (click-to-zoom).
I’d be happy to help you adjust this behavior. We can explore a couple of solutions such as:
Tweaking the existing zoom settings (if exposed in the theme or editable via JavaScript).
Replacing the current zoom with a more user-friendly library (like Medium Zoom or Drift Zoom).
Adjusting mobile responsiveness to better handle gestures like pinch and swipe.
I can inspect your store and walk you through the best fix, or implement it for you if you’d prefer a hands-off solution.
Feel free to reach out or DM me if you’re open to collaborating. I’d love to help make your product pages smoother and more engaging for your visitors.
