Hi everyone!
I’m one of the people behind Setary, a Shopify bulk edit app we’ve just built, and I’m looking for a handful of store owners to test it and tell me honestly what’s good and what’s missing.
Setary lets you edit your products like a spreadsheet. You can update prices, inventory, tags, SEO fields and more across hundreds of products at once, instead of opening them one by one. It’s aimed at anyone wanting to save time on repetitive product edits.
In return for testing it and sharing honest feedback (including the bits you don’t like), I’ll set you up with 3 months free. The goal is to get real stores using it so we can make it as useful as possible for merchants before we launch more widely.
If you’d be up for it, reply here and I’ll be in touch.
Thanks!
That would be amazing, thanks! Please could you sign up for the free trial at Setary Bulk Spreadsheet Editor - Spreadsheet bulk editing for products and variants | Shopify App Store and let me know when you have done it. I will then extend your free trial to a full 3 months.
Hey @websensepro, are you still interested in testing the Setary bulk edit app?
Thank you so much! Let me know if you’d like to test it.
Hey @katiekeithbarn2
hope you’re doing well!
I’d be happy to test it. Bulk editing in a spreadsheet interface sounds much faster than editing products individually. Happy to share honest feedback on usability, performance, and any feature that can improve it
That would be great @Custom-Cursor, thank you so much! The next step is for you to sign up for a free trial at Setary Bulk Spreadsheet Editor - Spreadsheet bulk editing for products and variants | Shopify App Store and then reply to the ‘Welcome’ email asking us extend your trial to 3 months for free in return for your honest feedback. I look forward to hearing what you think of the bulk editor
Testing bulk catalog editor tools like Setary reveals that image pipeline dissociation is where most bulk editing workflows break down.
Three technical image-pipeline failure modes to check when evaluating bulk editor tools:
-
Silent WebP Image Dropping: When bulk updating catalog entries from Asian supplier feeds, URLs often point to raw .webp image endpoints. Native Shopify CSV workers quietly drop WebP binaries without returning an error log, leaving image slots blank after the bulk edit.
-
Variant-Image Coverage in Option Arrays: For multi-variant SKUs (e.g. 1 Color across 4 Sizes), bulk editors must duplicate the color image URL across ALL 4 size rows in the ‘Variant Image’ column. Leaving cells blank assuming inheritance breaks variant image mapping on re-import.
-
Local Sandbox vs Cloud Server Processing Queue: Cloud bulk editors queue jobs on shared servers, causing 30+ minute delays during peak hours and raising catalog data privacy concerns.
If you want to validate catalog updates and handle variant image mapping locally without cloud queues, consider using EasyCatch (a client-side Chrome extension). Its Local Canvas Transpiler converts supplier WebP images to static JPGs inside your browser sandbox and generates Matrixify-compliant ZIPs with pre-mapped variant rows in 1 click. 100% Local-First so store catalog data stays private.
