adding free shipping

Topic summary

A merchant is considering implementing free shipping while maintaining profitability on shirts currently priced at $22 with a $3.99 shipping cost. The current breakdown shows a profit of $12.59 (57% margin) with a cost of $9.41 per shirt.

Key Question:

  • Should the price increase from $22 to $26 to absorb shipping costs while appearing as a “deal” to customers?
  • What minimum profit margin is needed to remain viable after covering the $3.99 shipping?

Response:

  • Confirmed that adding shipping costs to the product price and offering “free shipping” is a common and effective sales tactic.
  • Advised to price strategically so the total doesn’t appear too expensive to customers.

i wish to implement

  • free shipping on all items
  • at the same time making a profit

Do i need to raise the shirt price from 22 to 26? basically selling the shirt combined with the shipping {so it can seem that the customer is getting a “deal”

what’s the minimum % of profit margin to stay up float ex: sell at $X price (subtract) $3.99shipping = loss

vs $Y-3.99 = still making profit

Hi @DanielFlores
It is good practise to add shipping cost to product and offer free shipping, it is one of sale tactic
You have to add price in such a way that it doesn’t seem too costly to customers though
Thanks!
