Auto changing inventory

Topic summary

A merchant sells 5 individual product variants (all sharing SKU XXXX) plus a “mystery” bundle product (SKU YYYY) that could contain any of the 5 variants. They want to automatically decrease the mystery bundle’s inventory whenever any individual variant is purchased.

Proposed Solutions:

  • One user suggested using Shopify Flow to create an automated workflow for this inventory adjustment.
  • Another user recommended using Shopify’s native Bundles app instead, which automatically handles inventory tracking for bundled products without requiring Flow.

Current Status:

  • The original poster is attempting to implement one of these solutions.
  • The discussion remains open regarding which approach will work best for this use case.

Hi there. I’m trying to figure out if it is possible to adjust the quantity on another product simultaneously as one is sold. For context I offer 5x different kinds of a product - on different listings (all with the same SKU XXXX) and I also offer a mystery product where you could receive one of these 5 (SKU YYYY).

Is it possible to create a flow where if any of the 5 SKUXXXX is purchased, it decreases the quantity available on SKUYYYY product listing as well?

I hope that makes sense, I tried doing it on Flow but can’t figure it out for the life of me! Thanks in advance.

Ahh thank you so much for this! I will give it a go and see if I can successfully set it up on my end - seriously thank you again :raising_hands:t3:

You shouldn’t need Flow to do this. How are you doing these Bundles? The Shopify app should handle the inventory problem for you

Here’s details about how it works. https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/products/bundles/eligibility-and-considerations#inventory
