Hi, I’m having someone build out our B2C site to include a password restricted B2B section. I’m based in the EU and my developer is in the US. While we don’t have a huge budget to add-on apps, we will probably need to take 20% deposits on orders to be delivered at a later date. I have a few questions.
My developer has suggested one of 3 apps;Deposits & Partial Payment Depo, Downplay: Deposit & Pay Later and Partialy-Partial Payment COD. I’m not tech savvy so opinions? Other options?
As I see it, I don’t need fancy, just the ability to accept a deposit and to bill for the balance at a later date. Are there others things I should be looking for
Hi @thebluehound ,
I hope this message finds you well.
If cost and simplicity are your top concerns, Downpay is a solid fit.
If you anticipate needing more flexibility—like drafting orders, pre-orders, or auto billing—Depo might be more scalable.
For B2B needs around invoicing, payment flexibility, or multiple contributors per order, check out SpurIT or Charge Me Later.
If you find my recommendations helpful, a like would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Manoj
Thanks Manoj, You bring up another thing that I would need. For example, if I am at a trade show and take a written order, I would later have to create an invoice via my Shopify shop to send to the customer so your info is appreciated here.
Hi @thebluehound ,
I hope this message finds you well.
In your trade show scenario, you can handle this directly inside Shopify using draft orders. A draft order lets you manually create the order later, add the products and deposit terms, and then email the invoice directly to your customer from your Shopify admin.
If you’re using Downpay or Depo, both integrate with draft orders so you can request just the 20% deposit up front and leave the balance for later billing. This way you won’t need to process payments manually outside Shopify—it all stays centralized and professional.
For added B2B flexibility, you might also explore invoicing-focused apps (like SpurIT Invoices or Charge Me Later) if you want more automation, but draft orders + one of the deposit apps will already cover most of what you described.
If you find my recommendations helpful, a like would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
