I’ve been using Shopify for a few years, and I’ve seen hundreds of features and apps introduced. BUT the blog feature is always completely overlooked, even though it can be such an important tool for a brand.

  • I would like to focus on my blog as content starter, and be able to share the blog posts directly (and automatically) to other social media sites.
  • I’d like to be able to see my blog posts filed by posting date.
  • I’d like to be notified when a customer leaves a comment
  • I’d like to be able to reply to comments directly
  • I’d like to be able to add website features directly to a post like in the email marketing app. For instance, adding a link to a product complete with photos and/or text.
  • I should be able to choose a photo already used on my Shopify store to use as my main blog post photo.

Who’s with me? Surely I’m not the only Shopify user who thinks a blog is important and would like to have a more savvy blogging platform without having to go to ad filled or expensive other options?

Hey there!
Just wanted to chime in as I’ve released a little app that solves a few of your pain points in this post (specifically, email notifications on new blog comments, and directly replying to comments). The app is called “Better Blog Comments” and is exactly that - a massively improved blog comment system on Shopify (that imports all your existing comments, if you want) with better spam protection, threaded comment replies, an easy admin interface, etc.

I’d love for you to check it out, I think it may be the solution for those two points you had - the other ones, I agree, Shopify has been slacking hard on the blog platform and these are all standard features that I think they need to implement.
