Can changing banking details and currency on Shopify improve sales?

Topic summary

A Shopify store owner in New Zealand faces a significant issue: Meta has discontinued commerce accounts in their region, preventing them from tagging products in ads or posts for quick purchases.

Key Context:

  • Their Meta accounts were originally created in the US
  • Most customers are international (from US or Australia), not the New Zealand market
  • Meta removed their commerce account after they started the Shopify store in New Zealand

Current Status:
The discussion remains open with one response suggesting contacting Shopify support, but no confirmed solution or outcome yet. The owner is seeking insights from others who may have encountered similar cross-border commerce account issues.

Hey there,

Meta has discontinued commerce accounts in New Zealand which integrated shopify’s inventory, disabling tagging products on ads or posts for a quick purchase.

Can one just change their Shopify banking details and default their shop’s currency to USA account (I am a US citizen so already have to file taxes) to amend this issue?

Meta offers no help whatsoever (go figure) so hoping someone here will have some insight on this matter. My meta accounts were started in US but since I started my shopify store in NZ, meta removed my commerce account.

I sell internationally (most customers are buying from Australia or US and NZ isn’t my market anyway).

Please help and thank you in advance!!!
