Hello, I currently have a store that is on the Pause and Build plan. We are working on getting it activated and upgraded to the basic plan, but it’s telling me my staff accounts will be deactivated. I was under the impression that we were allowed up to two staff accounts for the basic plan, but it seems like that is no longer the case. When I asked the Support Chat Bot, it confirmed that we do get staff accounts, but the actual help center page says I don’t get any. If someone could please confirm one way or the other, that would be great!

It looks like we made some changes to the staff accounts on our plans and I apologize that our AI chat shared some inaccurate information about that. I can confirm the staff account listings you are seeing on the actual Help Center page are the correct ones. Generally speaking, if you do see a discrepancy between the AI chat bot and the Help Center, the Help Center doc should be the one followed. Please do flag any other disparities though if you come across them.

You are correct. Moving forward the number of staff accounts available will vary depending on the subscription plan. To learn more about those limits, you can check out our Managing Staff documentation.

this is nothing other than a money-making grab. There is absolutely no added benefit to the Shopify plan for $79 apart from the staff accounts. I think at some point they got savvy to the fact that people can get by with two staff accounts so they though, hey, how can we maximize our profits and force people to upgrade? “Remove staff accounts”
They could have at least left one staff account, but no, lets remove it altogether.

I have found my way here with the same question … when I purchased my plan I was SURE I could have 2 staff members. It is very restrictive not having ANY available on the basic plan now, and can only agree this is a money grab. An extra £40 a month to be able to use this is frankly ridiculously expensive, and would appreciate Shopify relooking at this.
