I wanted to segment and send targeted emails to my customers who purchase lip sticks, and shampoos. Can I do so?
Topic summary
Segmenting customers by products purchased (e.g., lipsticks, shampoos) for targeted emails is feasible, likely within Shopify’s customer management. A respondent confirms: use customer filters and bulk tagging to create segments.
Key steps:
- Bulk-tag customers by product category (e.g., “lipsticks”, “shampoos”) in the customer section.
- Apply filters based on those tags to segment your audience.
- Use the same filter within the email marketing funnel for the specific product to send targeted campaigns.
Definitions:
- Tag: a label applied to customers to classify them.
- Filter: criteria used to select a subset of customers matching tags.
Outcome: A clear, actionable method is provided; the question appears resolved. No mention of additional apps or advanced automations beyond built-in tagging and filtering.

Yes, you can do this in the customer section by adding a specific filter. Tag your customers (in bulk) and then the filter will apply for the tag you made before. Then add the filter again in the email marketing funnel of a specific product.
