Can I view full carts and send emails post-maternity leave with Shop and Build?

I’m thinking about using the Shop and Build plan while I’m out on maternity leave. I’m wondering with that plan, will I be able to see who has a full cart when I return? Can I send them emails when I reopen and let them know they can check out?

I’m happy to help. I believe you’re referring to our Pause and Build plan, and I think that’s the perfect option for if you want to step away from your shop during maternity leave.

When you’re on the Pause and Build plan, your account stays open at a reduced rate or $9 USD/month. You can access your Shopify admin and edit your products when you need to, but your checkout is disabled. Customers can still view your your products/storem but they can’t make a purchase. If you wanted your online store to not be visible to customers while you’re away, you could enable the password page.

As for your question about whether you will be able to recover abandoned carts when you return, you won’t be able to directly since abandoned checkout recovery (as well as your online store checkout, POS, discounts, gift cards, or third-party integrations such as Facebook and Google) aren’t accessible while you’re on the Pause and Build plan.

What I would recommend in this case is utilizing email marketing to tell your customers about your return when you reopen the store! You can check out these Shopify blog posts on how to create an email marketing list, and how to utilize it when you launch your store (in your case, relaunching your store).
