We’d like to offer a Patreon-style subscription on our site that allows for automatically rebilled monthly tier membership along with the ability to purchase both physical and digital products ala carte. Is there a way to bill members monthly through Shopify without using a 3rd party app and keeping everything within Shopify Payments? Thanks.

Great idea. This isn’t technically possible without an app unless you were to pay a third-party developer to custom-code this solution for you. I understand that you’re not wanting to use a third-party platform because of the billing outside Shopify. So I’ve found a few apps that will allow you to have a membership service on your site and bill through the Shopify Payments gateway:
The first 2 are free to download and use, as well as have the lowest cost to run. The Appstle app actually has a free version with no fees for up to 50 customers. So you can start with that plan and then scale up when you’re profiting off of the membership service.

Thanks Rio - I had already identified Appstle as the right solution for us. We expect to have over 1000 subscribers fairly quickly so they should be a good option to scale things.
