Is it possible to assign a customer a discount code or amount in Shopify that is automatically applied to each order that customer makes in Shopify?

You can definitely create an automatic discount code that is applied to each order. Typically, this is applied when a customer meets certain conditions, like spending over a certain amount or purchasing a specific product. We have an awesome video that goes over how to apply this discount type. I also outlined the steps for you here:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Discounts.

  2. From the Discounts page, click Create discount.

  3. From the Select discount type menu, click Amount off orders.

  4. Under METHOD, select Automatic discount.

  5. In the Title section, enter a name for the automatic discount.

  6. Set a minimum requirement for the discount: Minimum purchase amount requires customers to spend a minimum amount to qualify for the discount.

Yes, this can be done using any discount app available on the Shopify App store.

You can check the Discount Depot App which offer discounted prices on your products and collections, on the basis of an individual customer/ group of customers. You can normally create a fixed amount/percentage base discount for an indivudal customer/group of customer which will be auto applied on the home page, collection page, cart page and checkout page. You donot have to create a discount code and share with the client, it will be auto applied based on the customer tag.
