Can you create a URL redirect for a specific product variant?

Hello,

I was wondering if there was a way to create a URL redirect just on a specific variant of a product.

I have Product A with Variants A, B, C, D, E, and F. However, only Variant C has been discontinued. I also have Product B with Variants A, B, C, etc. Variant C of Product B is a good replacement for Variant C of Product A. I’d like to make it so that whenever a customer selects Variant C from the drop-down menu on Product A, it automatically redirects them to the separate product page for Product B Variant C.

Is this possible? I tried creating a URL redirect from the URL for Product A Variant C (https://aaprintsupplyco.com/products/epson-dye-sublimation-multi-purpose-transfer-paper-105-gsm-300ft-roll?variant=33005238222932) to the URL for Product B Variant C (https://aaprintsupplyco.com/products/texprint-xp-105gsm-water-based-sublimation-transfer-paper-3-core?variant=32683913969748), but it doesn’t seem to be working.

This seems to be, indeed, possible, but very tricky to be done. I would advise hiring a developer and better discussing it with them
