Can't change EIN on my eCommerce platform, any advice?

Over the past 2 months, I have been reaching out to Shopify non-stop, calling them on a regular basis, and doing literally everything in my power to try and change the EIN associated with my Shopify Store, but I cannot. Every time I am on the phone with Shopify support, they tell me that somebody from their team will reach out to me to get this figured out, then weeks go by and nobody reaches out. The EIN currently associated with my store is my Dads EIN. He doesn’t even live in the same state as me, and this issue is going to affect him and myself in a major way during tax season. I continuously tell Shopify how important this is, but they literally do not care at all. As long as Shopify is getting their money, they will disregard any issues that merchants are having. At this point it seems like Shopify is intentionally going out of their way to avoid helping me. I know that the process of changing an EIN is not complicated, if Shopify wanted, they could have this issue resolved within 10 minutes of looking at it. I’ve created websites through Wix, GoDaddy, and Shopify in my lifetime, and I am extremely disappointed with Shopify so far. This is BY FAR the worst site hosting company, and the support team is completely useless. But at this point I have a large mailing list and a solid amount of income built up on Shopify so I don’t want to switch. I NEED MY EIN CHANGED THIS MONTH, THIS IS LITERALLY RUINING MY BUSINESS AS I AM COLLECTING INCOME UNDER 2 DIFFERENT EIN’s. It’s sad that badmouthing Shopify to their customers is the only way to get their attention and to make them take my issues seriously.

Thank you for posting to the community forums. I absolutely appreciate how frustrating, and important this situation is. I know that if I were in the same predicament I would feel equally as frustrated. Unfortunately, tax situations are not able to be handled by our live advisors and can only be handled by our specialized tax team.

Due to it being tax season, our tax specialists have an incredible amount of similar requests, resulting in a longer than usual response time. While the request itself is not complicated, each ticket is responded to in the order in which it is received.

While I can’t authenticate your specific ticket over the public forum, the tax team has assured me they are working through all open requests as quickly as possible. Additionally, I have submitted this feedback to the team directly so that we can work on improving our process in the future.

I understand that Shopify is a large international corporation which is why I expected a slight delay in response time, but at this point it has been over 2 months since I was told that you guys would help me with this issue. If it takes you 2 months to assist a merchant with an extremely simple request, Shopify needs to hire a larger support team. It’s not even an excuse at this point. Awful customer service, awful company. I’m currently in the process of migrating to Wix because this is ridiculous. I am going to be putting my parents through hell during tax season because of this. Thanks for nothing.
