Hi,
I need the cart to function where it remembers the logged in users selections but when you log out it acts like a new browser. Right now it remembers everything. We have products only logged in members can see and we need them to go back to hidden when they log out - that includes the cart.
I need this to function more like homedepot.com. Any thoughts?

Nothing is misconfigured on your side, this happens on every theme. Shopify keeps the cart in a browser cookie rather than against the customer account, so logging out leaves it in place for whoever uses that browser next.
The usual workaround is a small script that empties the cart when the customer logs out. It does the job, but the cart is then gone for that customer as well, and they start from scratch on their next visit. What you describe is narrower than that: a clean browser for the next person, and the member’s own cart waiting for them when they log back in.
That is the gap I built my app to fill. Ecto, persistent cart sync for Shopify is an app on the Shopify App Store that saves a logged in customer’s cart and restores it on any other device or browser they log into, for 90 days after the last change. An optional setting clears the browser cart on logout while keeping the saved one. Any Online Store theme, 5 day trial.
It only clears the cart though, keeping products for members only is a separate thing.
