Hello,
The current currency of my store is BGN (Bulgarian leva) and I already made my first sale. But my question is if the customers see BGN when they shop and if they can change the currency so that it suits their needs? I already read that selling in multiple currencies is possible through Shopify Payments but its not present in Bulgaria so I can
t add other currencies. I want to sell products internationally so the ability for the customers to change the currency of their liking is important. Is there another way to do that or should I at least change the store currency with your help? I understand the consequences of doing that and I`m ready to do it. Thank you in advance for your help!
Hi @DVladmirova ,
Thanks for reaching out with your question! What kind of business do you have and products do you sell? I’d love to hear a bit more.
I understand that your store currency is in BGN (Bulgarian leva) and you’re looking to see if customers view BGN currency and if they’re able to adjust the currency to their needs.
You’re absolutely right that selling in multiple currencies through Shopify Payments is possible. Have you already had a chance to look into our resource on Enabling Multiple Currencies with Shopify Payments? Within your Settings > Payments section you’re able to add multiple currencies. I know you mentioned you’re planning to sell your products internationally and adding multiple currencies can help. If you’re having difficulties adding multiple currencies within your admin or it’s not available to you, I recommend reaching out to our Live Support so they’re able to provide you account specific details.
Once you’re able to adjust adding multiple currencies to your store, you can look into apps that will allow you to enable a currency selector. The reason I suggest this is that customers who navigate to your storefront will be able to utilize the currency selector and toggle it to their currency of choice.
You can look into apps like Geolocation to enable a currency selector that will allow your customers to select their country and language. I’d also recommend apps like Best Currency Converter and MLV Auto Currency Switcher that display prices in your customers local currency and can detect the country of the user based on their IP. I recommend clicking into each app to learn more about it’s features and benefits and view it within a demo store for better visibility.
The apps mentioned above are third-party apps designed by third-party app developers. If you need further help with integrating the app to your store or have questions about the app I recommend reaching out to the app developer directly through the Get Support option on the app page. I’ll also share our help center resource for more information on getting help with third party apps.
