Please Shopify, why can buyers not choose the recipient’s email when buying a gift card? Moreover, they need to choose a date for when it’s delivered. This is the basic functionality of ANY online gift card. It is absurd that the buyer of a gift card then receives the gift card themselves!
It is equally silly that, in all cases, the gift card is delivered immediately!
Gift cards are such a great tool for small businesses, but ever since introducing them on our site I’ve had nothing but complaints. People do not understand why they can’t just send a gift card to a recipient - like you can on any other gift card anywhere! Add at Christmas time for example, of course they want it to arrive on Christmas Day, not three weeks before when they had the idea.
From my point of view, I’d like to be able to customise the gift card as well. All of the competitors - Wix, BigCommerce, SquareSpace, Volusions - they all offer this functionality.
Come on Shopify!! A gift card is a gift card, it’s not a product and should not be restricted to product-buying options. Reading through the forums, Shopify customers have been asking for this functionality for years and years. It’s fundamentally not right that Shopify just points its customers to a third-party app that wants to charge you $15 a month just to send gift cards!!
Shopify please, when will we get this solution??? Surely you can’t just fob people off for five years!
