City & county dropdown at checkout for Romania – Feature Request

Hello there,

I kindly request that you add an option at checkout allowing customers to select their county and city from a predefined dropdown list. Right now, addresses on orders are a bit all over the place - some folks use diacritics, others abbreviate city names, and that ends up causing trouble with shipping and invoicing.

Our ERP already has a built-in list of cities and counties, so if the customer chooses directly from that list instead of typing freely, we’d have a perfect 1:1 match. That way, orders would automatically enter the ERP with complete, uniform addresses. When there’s no match for a city or county name, it leaves us with an incomplete address and a ton of confusion.

We truly love Shopify and appreciate all the cool features you keep adding. However, this particular issue really throws a wrench into our workflow, and if it gets resolved, it would bring so much relief and efficiency to our day-to-day operations.

Although Shopify’s standard checkout doesn’t natively have this available for Romania yet, you could potentially hack it through a third-party or custom app like “Checkout CitySelect” to have dropdowns included, though it’d need to be modified to work with your ERP’s list. For a more long-term fix, I would suggest opening this up as a feature request through Shopify’s support or community forums — your clearly defined scenario of workflow optimization could really get it pushed forward.
