How can I collect tax on my US orders and ship them DDP from the UK?
Great question. This is actually a two-step approach in this particular scenario.
Step one, you can go into settings, taxes and duties, under ‘Duties and import taxes’ click Set up Collect duties and import taxes at checkout. There is a fee that Shopify charges for this, but you can set UK as the market and then choose whether you want to include the duties and the price that gets charged, or have it as a separate line item.
The second part is actually buying the shipping label itself. Unfortunately, we don’t currently have any DDP shipping options from the UK, but you would be able to look at other apps or other shipping partners where you could then use a DDP option and you would just pay the duties when you buy that label.
To ship US orders DDP from the UK and collect taxes correctly, enable tax calculation in your store and configure state-wise US taxes. Ensure your shipments are marked as DDP so duties and import taxes are prepaid, and include accurate customs details like HS codes and item descriptions to avoid delays.
