Colour issue with product photo

Hi,

I am having issues with the colouring with my photos on my shopify store, on my laptop and phone they have much better colouring compared to my shopify store.

Is there a way to fix this issue? ČANNES

Thank you!

Hi @CBOfficial ,

Could you send me the original image from your computer and the one after it’s uploaded to your store? This will help me better understand the difference visually, as I’m not quite clear on the issue yet.

Looking forward to helping you!

Best,
Felix

Hi @CBOfficial

Thanks for reaching out. The difference in coloring between your device (laptop/phone) and your Shopify store is usually due to how images are processed and displayed on the web. Here are a few things you can try:

  1. Check Image Format & Quality

    • Make sure you’re uploading high-quality images (JPEG/PNG) without heavy compression.

    • Avoid saving images with profiles that might not be web-friendly (like CMYK); use sRGB color profile for web.

  2. Optimize Images for Web

    • Shopify may compress images during upload, which can slightly alter colors. Using an app like Crush Pics or TinyIMG can help maintain color fidelity.
  3. Browser & Device Differences

    • Colors can appear differently depending on screen type and brightness. Ensure your monitor or phone is calibrated for accurate color display.
  4. Theme or CSS Settings

    • Some Shopify themes apply filters, overlays, or automatic adjustments that can affect image appearance. Check your theme settings for image filters or color adjustments.

Thanks

Hi @CBOfficial,

Can you elaborate on the question? What does a shopify store mean? And are you referring to image quality?

Hii @CBOfficial

Solution:
1. Export Images in sRGB

  • If you use Photoshop or similar:

    • When exporting, use “Export As” → sRGB profile checked.
  • In free tools (Canva, GIMP, etc.), make sure to set the export profile to sRGB.

2. Use JPG for Photos, PNG/WebP for Graphics

  • JPG (high quality, sRGB) is best for product/lifestyle photos.
  • PNG/WebP is best for logos/icons.

3. Check Image Dimensions Before Upload

  • Upload images at the size Shopify recommends (e.g., 2048px on the longest side).
  • If Shopify resizes huge files, it applies more compression → more color loss.

4. Disable “Auto Color Adjustments” (if using Apple devices)

  • On iPhones/Macs, “True Tone” or “Night Shift” changes how colors look on-screen, but this won’t match what Shopify shows.
