Hi, I am trying to buy a shipping label so I can send a my products to someone to try. I tried setting up a draft order but am not sure if I need to mark it as paid in order to buy a shipping label. I will remove the inventory from my SKUs but don’t want to be charged for the products but need to pay for shipping. Thanks for your help in advance.
When creating the order, in the “Payment” section, you can add a discount equal to the value of the item, in order to make it a $0 order. (You can enter it either as 100% or as a dollar value. The fixed value may have problems if the order is in Euros or other currencies other than US dollars, but the percentage discount always works.)
You can then mark the whole order as paid, without asking for payment from the customer. I use Shopify Fulfillment Network, so after I mark it as paid, I request fulfillment; SFN later bills me for the fulfillment/shipping. I imagine you’d do the same, just print the shipping label (instead of requesting SFN fulfillment), and Shopify would bill you for the label at some point.
