Does Shopify Horizon theme support product-specific accordion content without creating separate templates or editing code? The Text block inside Accordion appears to be shared across all products. Is this expected behavior or am I missing a built-in feature?
Hi @ladylantana
Yes, that’s the expected behavior. In the Horizon theme, the Text block inside an Accordion is section-level content, so it is shared across all products that use the same template.
If you need product-specific accordion content, you have a few options:
-
Use product metafields and connect the accordion to a dynamic source (if the block supports dynamic sources).
-
Use metaobjects for more structured and reusable content.
-
If the block doesn’t support dynamic sources, you’ll need a small theme customization to display product-specific content.

Thank you for confirming.
I can connect standard fields such as Product Description, Title and Category Metafields, but my custom Rich Text Product Metafield does not appear in the Dynamic Source list.
Is this a current limitation of the Horizon theme, or am I missing a setting?
If it’s a limitation, is there any no-code workaround without creating separate product templates?
Hi @ladylantana
Can you send me your store URL and a screenshot? Also, please highlight which data you want to make dynamic so I can check it and guide you accordingly.

[email removed]devcoders The attached screenshot shows the Text block inside my Details accordion.
My goal is for the Details accordion to display different content for each product. For example, each product should have its own:
- Fabric
- Color
- Product details / Design
However, because the Text block is shared across the template, the content becomes mixed across different products on the live website. Each time I edit one product, it affects the others, so the Details content is incorrect.
I spent a lot of time creating these accordions, and now I’m worried that I created them for nothing.
I also tested Dynamic Sources. I can connect standard fields like Description, but I can’t get my product-specific Details content to work dynamically.
Is there any no-code solution in the Horizon theme, or is this only possible with metafields and theme customization?
I’ve attached screenshots of my current setup.
Thank you very much for your help.
Hi @ladylantana
Okay, for this we’ll need to create product metafields and then assign those metafields to this text section so that each product can display its own unique content.
Thank you @devcoders
I already created product metafields, but they do not appear in the Dynamic Source list for the Text block.
Could you please explain the exact steps?
- What type should the metafield be? (Rich text, Multi-line text, etc.)
- Where exactly should I create it?
- How do I make it appear in the Dynamic Source list inside the Text block?
If possible, could you provide a step-by-step guide for the Horizon theme?
Thank you!
Hi Devcoder,
Thank you.
I clicked the Dynamic Source button exactly as shown in your screenshot.
However, my custom Product Metafield does not appear in the list.
I can only see:
- Title
- Vendor
- Description
- Category Metafields
Could you please tell me why my custom Product Metafield is not showing?
Do I need to create it as a specific type (Rich Text, Multi-line Text, Metaobject reference, etc.)?
Or is there another setting that needs to be enabled in the Horizon theme?
Thank you!
