In our physical shop, we use the Customer View android app on a few small android tablets to display the items and prices at checkout (like a normal store needs and wants). It is plagued with frequent disconnects, and sure, it’s easy enough to re-pair them etc etc, but there hasn’t been an update to the app since April and I’m not sure what got improved or fixed even then. It also doesn’t tell customers it’s ok to remove their card from the Tap&chip reader, so constantly, all day, I and my coworkers have to tell customers it’s ok to remove their card. Again, not a huge deal but it gets old fast. It also looks boring as hell, you can only display black and white text as the default screen. I am especially interested in getting a big update to this app and increasing the functionality and customization because the new “Countertop mode for POS Go” is out now and it looks like if I use a POS Go device in the cradle as a customer display screen, it has lots more options than the current customer display app. You can use a logo have a post-payment message, it even looks like it can display color… Which the current android app doesn’t do.
What is it going to take to get some real options and customizations/connectivity on this app? I’d love to be able to set up a carousel of images and messages across the screen for instance. Put a QR code for people to add themselves to the cart maybe? or to go give us a google review?
