As the title says. I’ve made sure to size the image to the optimal size, tried different filetypes, messed with the quality, tweaked theme code with solutions I’ve found online and with solutions I’ve figured out myself, precompressed my images down to <500kB, and more. No matter what I do, the images are super high quality on the featured products section of my homepage but then get super compressed and blurry when you go to the product page itself. It’s not an acceptable level of loss and makes my product page look messy.
Pretty lost at this point and would appreciate some help.
Edit: oddly enough, zooming in to 400% and then zooming back out to 100% causes the image to render at full quality. Not sure if that has any significance.
Welcome to Shopify Community! Can you share your Store URL so I can have a look on it? Also, if you have password enabled then please share the password as well. Your cooperation would be greatly appreciated.
It’s the main image on this page that’s got low quality. When compared to the main image that shows for this product on my homepage, you can see a very stark drop in quality and inspecting the image confirms this drop. Oddly enough, zooming in to 400% on the product page and then zooming back out to 100% causes the image to render at full quality. Not sure if that has any significance.
Here’s a screenshot, although it’s not as clear when the image is so small. The issue is very apparent to me on the product page itself.
I’m a bit confused as to why Shopify says that 2048x2048px is the optimal image size in that case? I’m downloading the file off of photoshop as a 2048x2048px JPEG so I’m just not sure why it would downscale like that. Can I force it to display on my site at a different resolution or should I do something different in the download process?
