Does the “delivery estimate” provided to customers link to the actual delivery tracking? Or does it stay static based on the original estimate created when the customer placed their order, and never update?
I currently have 1 business day handling time set for all of my orders. I don’t use any extra shipping or tracking apps. In some cases, we are able to ship our orders out the same day they are placed. In those cases, the customer still sees a delivery estimate to be one day later than when the product actually gets delivered. Of course the actual tracking through the carrier (USPS) is accurate, and shows the most up-to-date shipping details, but the delivery estimate the customer sees when they view their order through Shopify does not appear to update. It’s confusing to the customer, because Shopify isn’t updating, and in fact is showing “out for delivery” for a date in the future which doesn’t make sense.
Here is an example of what the customer sees. Their order shows a delivery estimate, and out for delivery for a future date (July 31st) when the actual tracking through USPS shows out for delivery on July 29th. Why does the Shopify estimate not update to show the accurate delivery estimate from USPS?
Actual tracking from USPS
Customers do get emails when their order has shipped, and an email when their order is out for delivery, but the mismatch between the estimate they see when they go to their order confirmation email and the actual tracking is confusing them.
