Does everything transfer when switching over your theme to a new one?

Looking for assistance with switching to another theme, will everything transfer when doing so or do I have to manually add everything back in?

When switching to a new theme on Shopify, some data, such as products, collections, pages, and blog posts, will usually transfer automatically. However, not all data will transfer over and some customizations made to your previous theme may not be transferred and will need to be reconfigured or reinstalled in the new theme. Some of the things that may not transfer include:

  • Theme settings: Customizations made to your previous theme’s settings, such as layout and design, may not be transferred to the new theme.

  • Custom code: Custom code added to your previous theme, such as custom CSS or JavaScript, will not be transferred and will need to be added to the new theme.

  • Installed apps: Apps installed on your previous theme may not be compatible with the new theme, and may need to be reinstalled or reconfigured.

It’s recommended to backup your store data before making the switch.

When trying to switch to a new theme only one of my pages transferred over and none of my collections. I thought more of this would transfer over? Do I need to redo the whole thing because my pages and collections were only specific to my previous theme?
